Young Minds, Stronger India: St Xavier’s College Rallying Youth Against Addiction

St Xavier’s College hosted a Yuva Connect programme on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva, Viksit Bharat’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and MY Bharat. Around 900 students participated in the programme, engaging in discussions and activities aimed at promoting an addiction-free India and taking a collective pledge to stay away from substance abuse. College Registrar Fr Dr Prabhat Kennedy Soreng SJ, Dean of Students’ Welfare Dr Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Bursar Fr Ravi Hemant Kujur SJ and NSS Programme Officer Dr Anirban Gupta were present.
MY Bharat Jharkhand State Director Lalita Kumari, Ranchi University NSS Coordinator Dr Kishore Surin and Youth Icon Shweta Kumari encouraged students to make responsible choices, stay away from addiction and contribute actively to nation-building. They emphasised the role of young people in creating a healthier and more aware society.
Student representatives Aishwarya Singh, Amrit Kachhap, Krishna Kumar Mishra, Mehul Kumar Oreya, Bulbul Kumari and Richa, along with NSS volunteers, played an active role in the programme. The event concluded with the college expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, MY Bharat, guests and all participants for their contribution towards the awareness initiative.
