In the challenging world of medical science, where clinical expertise must seamlessly align with empathy, Dr. Shweta Sushmita’s journey stands out as a graceful blend of resilience and resolve. From her formative years in Darbhanga to her emergence as a trusted pathologist in Ranchi, her path reflects refined professional excellence guided by a deeply personal commitment to serve her homeland.

Precise in her craft and purposeful in her vision, Dr. Shweta Sushmita is steadily carving a distinguished space in the field of medical diagnostics. Born and raised in Darbhanga, Bihar, she was nurtured in an environment deeply influenced by academia and medicine. Her father is a doctor, while her late mother, a professor, remains her most enduring inspiration. Losing her mother in Class 9 became a defining moment that instilled in her a deep sense of responsibility and quiet resilience. She shares a close bond with her siblings, her elder sister is an entrepreneur, and her younger brother is an orthopaedic surgeon, with her sister in law also serving as a gynaecologist. Service, discipline and ambition have long been woven into the family ethos that continues to guide her journey. Her academic journey began at Rose Public School, Darbhanga, followed by MBBS from Mata Gujri Memorial Medical College and LSK Hospital, Kishanganj. Drawn to the precision of diagnostic sciences, she pursued MD in Pathology from the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. Her clinical acumen was further sharpened during her Senior Residency at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, where she later served as Assistant Professor, gaining valuable teaching and clinical exposure. On the personal front, she is married to Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jha, a DM in Cardiology, and the couple is blessed with a baby girl. In December 2020, Dr. Shweta moved to Ranchi during the challenging Covid phase, a time marked by professional uncertainty across the healthcare landscape. Yet, with characteristic composure and determination, she steadily rebuilt momentum in her career. In the post pandemic phase, she joined Sadar Hospital, Khunti, as Lab Head and Blood Bank In charge. Her tenure proved highly impactful, earning recognition from NACO for securing the 2nd Best Blood Bank in Jharkhand under her leadership. The honour stood as a strong testament to both her technical precision and administrative foresight in strengthening critical healthcare systems. Today, Dr. Shweta serves as Histopathologist and Cytopathologist at Ranchi Sadar and is also associated as Consultant Pathologist at Raj Hospital. Further advancing her vision for accessible and high quality diagnostics, she established GenCore Diagnostic in Hinoo. The centre offers a comprehensive range of services including Histopathology, Cytopathology, Immunology, Hematology, HPLC, fluid analysis and Pap smear diagnostics, reflecting her unwavering commitment to precision driven, patient centric care. Behind her steady rise stands deep gratitude for the mentors who shaped her professional journey. She acknowledges Dr. Sumeet Gujral of TMH as a pivotal guiding force, while also crediting Dr. Amit Adhya, formerly of PGI Chandigarh and presently Head of Department at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, for significantly influencing her postgraduate training and clinical expertise. Despite receiving promising opportunities from abroad, Dr. Shweta made a conscious and heartfelt decision to remain in India. Serving her own land, she believes, is the most meaningful way to honour her late mother’s dream, a promise that continues to illuminate her professional path. On the occasion of Women’s Day, her message to women and young girls resonates with clarity and conviction. She emphasises that no challenge is too formidable and no dream too distant for a woman who truly believes in herself. In her words, empowering a woman ultimately unlocks the full potential of a nation. With unwavering focus, clinical expertise and a purpose driven vision, Dr. Shweta Sushmita continues to advance the field of pathology, quietly yet powerfully shaping healthier futures, one precise diagnosis at a time.
