TUSU FESTIVAL SHINES BRIGHTER AS HONORABLE GOVERNOR’S

PRESENCE ADDS HISTORIC CHARM TO RANCHI CELEBRATION

The Tusu Festival organised by Kurmali Bhasha Parishad at Morabadi Maidan turned extra special this year with the graceful presence of Honorable Governor Santosh Gangwar, whose visit elevated the scale and spirit of the celebration. The festival witnessed an impressive gathering of dignitaries including Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, and former Jamshedpur MP Shailendra Mahato. However, the Governor’s first-ever participation in the Tusu Festival made the occasion historic, infusing fresh enthusiasm among both audiences and performers.
Addressing the gathering, Honorable Governor Santosh Gangwar praised the Kurmali language and folk traditions, calling the Tusu festival an integral part of Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage. He emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting such traditions so future generations remain connected to their roots. The event came alive with vibrant Tusu songs, traditional dances and colourful folk performances that received warm appreciation from the crowd. Artists, social workers and culture enthusiasts participated in large numbers, creating a lively cultural atmosphere.
Kurmali Bhasha Parishad President Dr Raja Ram Mahato honoured the Governor and expressed gratitude for his presence. He highlighted that the credit for bringing the Tusu Festival to Ranchi city goes to the Parishad, which first organised the celebration in 2001 at KK Colony after the formation of Jharkhand. Since then, the festival has been celebrated every year on the eve of Tusu at Morabadi Maidan on a grand scale, with the Parishad continuously encouraging Tusu groups, artists and women participating in the traditional pitha competition.
