NATIONAL YOUTH DAY WITH A SPIRITED RUN FOR SWADESHI
Sarala Birla University turned into a vibrant celebration of youth, legacy and national pride as it marked National Youth Day on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti with remarkable enthusiasm and reverence. The campus resonated with inspiration as the university hosted the energetic “Run for Swadeshi,” a symbolic initiative encouraging self-reliance and a renewed commitment to indigenous values. The occasion also paid heartfelt tribute to the birth anniversary of the university’s visionary founder, the late B. K. Birla, remembering his enduring contributions and transformative vision.
In an inspiring address, Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Jagannathan reflected on the timeless philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, sharing the powerful message of self-belief and recounting motivating episodes from his life that continue to guide generations. Director General Prof. Gopal Pathak highlighted the invaluable role of mentorship, drawing attention to the spiritual guidance of Ramakrishna Paramhansa in shaping Vivekananda’s journey and describing the Chicago address as a historic moment that introduced India’s spiritual wisdom to the world. The gathering also offered a solemn tribute to the late Basant Kumar Birla, while speakers collectively emphasised the importance of discipline, time consciousness and embracing a Swadeshi mindset in everyday life.
The celebration reached its most energetic moment with the “Run for Swadeshi,” where students and university staff participated with infectious enthusiasm, turning the event into a powerful symbol of unity and youthful determination. The run carried a strong message of self-reliance, patriotism and holistic well-being, reinforcing the spirit of nation building among the youth. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Biswaroop Samanta followed by the National Anthem, leaving the campus echoing with pride, discipline and an unmistakable sense of national spirit.
