INDIAN KARATE TEAM COMPETED IN TASHKENT
AT 21ST AKF ASIAN SENIOR KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP

A 31-member Indian karate team participated in the 21st Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Senior Karate Championship and the 4th AKF Asian Para-Karate Championship, held from May 23 to 25, 2025, at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The team had been selected based on their exceptional performances at the 4th KIO National Karate Championship, which took place on March 31 and April 1, 2025, at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.In preparation for the event, the Indian team completed an intensive 20-day training camp in Tashkent with Uzbekistan’s national karate team. The Karate India Organisation (KIO) contributed ₹25 lakh to support the team’s training and participation in the championship.
Under the leadership of KIO President Bharat Sharma, General Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jangra, and Treasurer Mutum Singh Bankim, the Indian contingent competed with determination in this prestigious competition. The team expressed gratitude to Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, for her steadfast support and encouragement, which inspired their performance.The 21st AKF Asian Senior Karate Championship showcased the talent, dedication, and spirit of Asia’s top karate athletes on a continental stage.
