A CELEBRATION OF LIVING TRADITIONS: BLUE KART UNVEILS ITS FIRST ARTISAN HAVEN IN RANCHI

On the festive morning of Makar Sankranti, Ranchi witnessed the unveiling of a cultural landmark as Blue Kart opened its doors at Niranjan Complex, Sidhu Kanhu Park, Hatma. The store was inaugurated by Jual Oram, setting the tone for an inspiring initiative that brings the rich tribal artistry of Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh into a contemporary retail space designed for modern art lovers. Inside the store, tradition comes alive through an exquisite curation of handmade treasures. From the earthy elegance of Sohrai and Khovar paintings to the storytelling charm of Paitkar art and the intricate beauty of Pattachitra, every corner celebrates craftsmanship rooted in heritage. Pipli Chandua textiles, Saura art, Dokra metal craft, stone and wood art, and Chhau-inspired creations create a vibrant tapestry of culture. Crafted with natural colours and time-honoured techniques, each piece carries the soul of generations and is now available under one roof for collectors and connoisseurs.
Director Pankaj Soni described the initiative as a mission to preserve indigenous art forms while empowering artists through direct market access and global exposure. Currently, around 500 artists are connected to the platform without intermediaries, ensuring fair value for their work, with plans to expand this network to nearly 2000 artisans in the coming years. Ranchi marks the first of eight upcoming Blue Kart stores, with future outlets planned at key locations including Birsa Munda Airport. The launch was graced by BSNL GM Umesh Prasad Sah, Shivshankar Oraon, Gangotri Kujur and Antu Tirkey, making the occasion a true celebration of culture, creativity and community.
